About Rusutsu
Rusutsu Resort is located 1.5 hours by bus from Sapporo. Buses run frequently every day from Sapporo airport to Rusutsu in winter and in summer.
Rusutsu is a three-peak resort with 42 km of groomed runs and extensive off-piste tree skiing. The 19-lift system is excellently linked, and can move an impressive 31,200 people per hour. The main lifts are gondolas, and all quad chairs are hooded.
Rusutsu’s main accommodation is the Rusutsu Resort hotel, a 4-star hotel with capacity for 4,000 people. Shinsetsu Estate now offers luxury self-contained accommodation: click here. Rusutsu Resort has a grocery store, both traditional and Western restaurants, and a variety of shops and bars.
As the capacity of the main hotel is nowhere near that of the lift system, there are never any lift queues at Rusutsu, making it one of Japan's most relaxed and enjoyable ski destinations.
Rusutsu boasts the best tree skiing in Hokkaido, set in a stunning landscape with views of Lake Toya and Mt Yotei. The majority of the resort is well protected from wind, resulting in some of the best quality powder in the world.
Not only a winter destination, Rusutsu is a true year-round holiday resort. In summer guests can enjoy the thrills of the 8-rollercoaster amusement park, waterslides, tennis courts, horse riding, fishing, scenic train tours, or test their skills on the 72-hole golf course. The major town of Kutchan is easily accessible by a 30 minute bus trip. Kutchan offers a wide variety of shops, restaurants, bars and entertainment. It also has medical and postal facilities, and major Japanese bank branches.
With Niseko only an hour by bus for those wishing to vary their skiing experience, the world-class Rusutsu resort is the perfect location to base your next winter holiday.
We are proud to announce that Rusutsu resort has been awarded with the 2008 Best Small Resort Award from the British skiing magazine The Great Skiing & Snowboarding Guide.
